🔥 Charge Into Fire Safety! The Forest City Fire Department is inviting the community to stop by its Fire Prevention Week 2026 Community Open House on Thursday, October 8.
📅 Thursday, October 8, 2026
⏰ 5:00–7:00 PM
📍 Emergency Services Center — 107 Highway 69 South, Forest City
Families and community members of all ages are welcome to come meet local firefighters, tour the station and fire trucks, and take part in activities focused on fire safety. 🚒👨🚒
This year’s Fire Prevention Week theme is “Charge Into Fire Safety — Safe Charging is a Superpower,” with an emphasis on lithium-ion battery safety. 🔋⚡
Visitors can learn important safety tips, including:
- 🔌 Use the correct charger for your device.
- 🪑 Charge devices on a hard, flat surface — not on beds, couches or under pillows.
- ⚠️ Watch for warning signs such as excessive heat, swelling, leaking, color changes or unusual smells.
- 🌡️ Keep batteries away from extreme heat and cold.
- 🔋 Unplug devices once they are fully charged.
- 🛴 When possible, charge e-bikes, scooters and other large battery-powered devices outdoors.
🔥 If a battery catches fire, get outside, stay outside and call 911. Working smoke alarms and a home fire escape plan can give your family valuable time to get to safety.
Come out, meet the Forest City firefighters and learn ways to keep your home and family fire safe! 🚒❤️
