Something SCANDALOUS happened during the Green Bay Packers /Dallas Cowboys game on Sunday: ELLEN DEGENERES was shown on TV sitting in a private suite with . . . GEORGE W. BUSH.
And they were smiling . . . maybe even LAUGHING! (???)
Some people on social media were up in arms about it, because she’s a gay Hollywood liberal, and he’s a conservative Republican. So of course they’re supposed to be enemies. (Because this is America right now.)
Ellen addressed the “scandal” on her show yesterday, and made it clear she isn’t apologizing for her friendships.
She said, quote, “A lot of people were mad . . . [but] here’s the thing. I’m friends with George Bush. In fact, I’m friends with a lot of people who don’t share the same beliefs that I have.
“We’re all different, and I think that we’ve forgotten that that’s okay that we’re all different. For instance, I wish people wouldn’t wear fur. I don’t like it, but I’m friends with people who wear fur .. .
“But just because I don’t agree with someone on everything doesn’t mean that I’m not going to be friends with them. When I say: ‘Be kind to one another,’ I don’t mean only the people that think the same way that you do.
“I mean be kind to everyone. [It] doesn’t matter.”
Yes, that was me at the Cowboys game with George W. Bush over the weekend. Here’s the whole story. pic.twitter.com/AYiwY5gTIS

(Here’s video. There are also a bunch of jokes peppered in, so Ellen isn’t taking it all that seriously. But sadly, it’s a point that NEEDS to be made these days . . . now that everyone is so passionate about what team they’re on that they think they can’t co-exist with someone who’s on the other team.)
